As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, the Crimson Club is producing a "Thankful for Our Donors" series during the month of November on its
Instagram account
In our first week, we would like to recognize Casey Child, a former Ute baseball player and owner of G2G protein bars, who has donated $5,000 in product for the Ute student-athlete Fuel Station.
Child played for the Utes from 1995-97 and was inducted into the Utah Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021. As a junior, Child set single-season school records with 104 hits, 31 home runs, 97 runs batted in, 27 stolen bases and a .890 slugging percentage—all of which still stand. He was named a First Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association and was drafted by the Anaheim Angeles. He played two seasons in the minor leagues.
"I'm very happy and grateful to be able to give back to my university that gave me such a meaningful opportunity for growth and success," said Child. "I hope this contribution helps the athletes in some small way."

was a First Team All-American in 1997.
After he retired, Child was making an effort to be more conscious about what he put into his body and his wife, Shannon, was running marathons. So he started experimenting with recipes in his kitchen for a protein bar that tasted good. His company now employs over 30 people and sells millions of bars per year all over the country. The G2G bars come in eight different flavors and are refrigerated, made with fresh, familiar ingredients.
"Casey's generous donation of G2G bars helps provide nutritional support to our student-athletes both in their academic and athletic endeavors," said Meredith Price, Utah's executive director of sports nutrition. "G2G bars have been an athlete favorite for many years and are a staple item in our athlete Fuel Station. G2G bars are made with high-quality protein, nutritious fats from nut butters, and energizing carbohydrates, making this a great snack and recovery option for our student-athletes. Thank you, Casey!"
